The Chautauquan Daily, Chautauqua, NY The official summer newspaper of the Chautauqua Institution. The Daily is a 10-22 page broadsheet, published six days a week. No wire service of any kind is used, but the pages are filled with stories and photographs of about 15 writers and four photographers, which means that staff members have the opportunity to build portfolios.
Responsibilities: Reporter Interns: A unique opportunity for good writers to cover the arts, prominent speakers who address major contemporary issues and nationally known theologians. Copy Editor Interns:Two copy editors will be hired. Working together, they will be responsible for reading and editing copy for a 10-28 page broadsheet newspaper six days a week for nine weeks. Photography Intern: Four photographers will be hired to work six days a week each week. Assignments will include morning and afternoon lectures, evening performances, operas and plays, shots requested by reporters and other activities. All photography is done digitally. Experience in Adobe Photoshop. Design Intern: Three or four design interns will be hired. Responsible for designing a 10-28 page broadsheet newspaper six days a week for nine weeks. Work days are Sunday- Friday for publications days Monday-Saturday. Should know Quark Xpress and Adobe Photoshop.

Cincinnati Business Courier, Cincinnati, OH A weekly business newspaper. Part of the American City Business Journals chain. The paper is printed every Friday, with breaking news appearing daily on the web site. The Business Courier also produces a weekly television show on business news, as well as several daily and weekly radio reports.
Responsibilities: Work as a full-time staff member to help fill the newspaper with stories/ads/photos/graphics. Interns are treated just like other members of the staff.
Qualifications: Some experience/clips are helpful. Basic understanding of newspapers is key.

Responsibilities: Enterprising stories, shooting/editing video, working with online content management system, updating graphics, and operating studio equipment.
Qualifications: Ability and desire to learn multimedia skills, Naples Daily News will teach everything. Background in online, video, and Photoshop is a plus.

National Assembly for Wales, Ohio University Program
Responsibilities: Students are placed with assembly members or political parties and work as research assistants, performing various tasks. Internships are political, but undergraduates from all majors are welcome to apply. Students from journalism and communication have participated in the program.
Qualifications: Open to junior and senior undergraduate students only. Eligible participants must have prior coursework in British or European politics and/or history, a minimum 3.0 GPA, and program applications must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation from faculty. Participants must be US citizens.
Quarters available/length of internship: Internships are offered twice a year: January - April and September - December. Interns receive up to 19 hours credit based on the quarter system and take an intensive British culture and politics course.

Responsibilities also may include monitoring other media and writing spot features. Quarters Available/Length of Internship: The summer internship program requires a minimum of 40 hours per week. The fall and spring sessions require 20 hours per week. If the student is receiving college credit for the internship, the college or university will determine work hours for the student, up to 40 hours per week. Responsibilities: Internships are available in either PR or Production for Guiding Light and As The World Turns. Interns assigned to the PR Department will be assisting with activities such as: --General office administrative support (phones, duplicating, file maintenance, etc.) --Preparing the daily clip packages. --Helping coordinate photo shoots and interviews. --Sending out synopses and VCR alerts to magazines and on-line services. --Maintaining actor and photo files. Interns working in Production will be assigned to the Production, Casting or Writers' office and have responsibilities such as: --Assisting with general office work. --Researching clips for montages. --Helping prepare for screen tests. --Distributing breakdowns and scripts. --Researching upcoming story ideas.
