In addition to a bachelor's degree, undergraduate students can earn
an academic certificate in one of two programs housed in the Scripps
College of Communication:
Political Communication
Jointly
sponsored by the Scripps College of Communication and the College of
Arts and Sciences, the certificate in political communication allows
exploration of the interactions of political figures, political
interests, the press, and the public in their efforts to influence
political outcomes.

Global Leadership Center
What
can be done to fight infant mortality in Bangladesh? What's the best
way to educate teens about HIV/AIDS in Nigeria? How can peace be
promoted in the Middle East? The Global Leadership Center
(formerly called the Global Learning Community) certificate program
allows students to tackle real-world questions like these. Jointly
sponsored by the Scripps College of Communication, the College of
Business, and the College of Arts and Sciences, and open to all
students, GLC classes are based on interdisciplinary, problem-solving
teamwork. Students enter the program as sophomores and live in a
team-oriented community in Bromley Hall that year. Each student
completes two international and cross-cultural projects: the first is a
consulting project in bi-national teams; the second project is an
internship overseas or with an international organization.
